TOWIE star Kirk Norcross slams 'toxic celeb life' by shunning fame for drains


Kirk Norcross has taken aim at the “toxic” world of celebrity that “turned him into a monster” as he reveals he now unblocks drains for a living.

The 31-year-old was a star of TOWIE and fully embraced the life that the money and fame this gave him.

Speaking to The Sun , Kirk said that he has been approached by bosses of the Essex reality show for a return for a spin-off involving some of the original members of the reality show.

Kirk has said that he has rebuffed any advances, saying that he is happier washing driveways with his own business than returning to his previous showbiz lifestyle.

The dad-of-two runs KN Jet Services in Essex, and he said that he “wouldn’t swap things for the world.”

He indicated that he is “glad” to be “away from that life now,” as he doesn’t miss being “on Towie… and being known everywhere I went.”

Kirk went on to say that he was surrounded by people “who are fake and just hangers-on.”

The former reality star said that fame “can be a very brutal environment,” and now he is out of that trapping, he can “earn a living with a bigger smile on my face.”

Kirk called out social media trolls as being the biggest bane on being famous and he quit Twitter completely after he was targeted with nasty messages.

He said: “People on Twitter can be so cruel. They say stuff they’d never dream of saying to your face.”

While it is advised not to have your skin pricked by what unkind people have to say online, but Kirk said “if you haven’t got a thick skin it can be very difficult to cope with.”

He suffered some “dark, dark times” and even tried to take his own life by taking “a load of sleeping pills” as he “just wanted to drift away but it didn’t work.”

Kirk is now embracing life and feels he now has “a chance now to be the person I want to be” and “to make a bit of difference.”

After TOWIE, Kirk went on to star in Ex On The Beach and date the likes of Amy Childs and Vicky Pattison.

Kirk claimed: “Reality TV turned me into a monster but the bosses didn’t want to look after the monster they created.”

He admits that his “life is very different now” and that he has “no plans on going back to the way things were.”
