The man in his 50s was visiting Eagle Point, a remote site best known for the horseshoe-shaped glass bridge, The Skywalk.

He is thought to have tripped before falling from the 984ft rim while taking photos on Thursday.

There are no barriers between visitors and the edge of canyon, and signs at Eagle Point warn tourists not to get too close to avoid falling.

According to South China Morning Post, The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong has confirmed that the man, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, was travelling with 11 others on a seven-day tour of the west coast in the US.

The man’s body has been retrieved by helicopter, according to Grand Canyon West spokesman David Leibowitz, with the area having been temporarily closed.

The National Park Service and the local medical examiner’s office are said to be investigating the accident.

It comes just days after another body was found in a wooded area south of Grand Canyon Village, away from the rim.

The body, which was found on Tuesday evening,  has yet to be identified.
