Tottenham vs West Ham: Michail Antonio reveals story behind his bizarre goal celebration after beating Spurs

Michail Antonio’s goal celebration caught as much attention as the goal itself as the West Ham forward became the first opponent to score at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In what was Spurs’ first loss since moving into their new home at the start of the month, West Ham recorded a deserved victory that dealt a blow to their London rivals’ hopes of finishing in the top four.

Spurs remain in third, but Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United will relish the opportunity to close the gap on Mauricio Pochettino’s side and with their Champions League double-header against Ajax up next, Spurs are at risk of coming unstuck domestically over the final weeks of the season.

But for West Ham, the victory proved that they will not let the final games peter out despite having little to play for, and Antonio particularly enjoyed the triumph given it allowed him to pull yet another bizarre celebration out of the locker.

Having beaten Davinson Sanchez to Mark Arnautovic’s perfect through ball before striking it past Hugo Lloris, Antonio performed a peculiar celebration that involved a lot of thrusting of his hips, before being swamped by his teammates.

“There’s this guy on Instagram, Danrue, that does crazy dance moves,” Antonio revealed to Sky Sports after the match.

“I saw it the other day and I’ve been busting it out in a couple of clubs so time to bring it out on the pitch. It lets me show my personality.”

And here’s Antonio’s attempt:

Going by the Instagram name of “Dancing Dan”, Danrue clearly has a fan in Antonio, although it was merely the latest in a long line of eye-catching goal celebrations this season.
