Mauricio Pochettino may not be able to call on a single attacking substitute during Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Ajax.
The Tottenham manager has an injury crisis to contend with, as well as the suspension of in-form forward Son Heung-min.
Harry Kane, Harry Winks and Serge Aurier were not fit enough to train on Monday morning while Argentina winger Erik Lamela did some physical work alone with a fitness coach.
Teenaged midfielder George Marsh trained with the first-team squad and has a chance of being on the bench for the visit of Ajax, who enjoyed a week of rest after the Eredivisie moved their fixtures to help their continental campaign.
With Son banned for an accumulation of bookings and Vincent Janssen ineligible after being omitted from Spurs’ Champions League squad, Pochettino has scant options in attack with Fernando Llorente the only recognised forward available. Lucas Moura, usually considered a wide player, may partner Llorente up top if Pochettino elects to play a front two.
