Tottenham 'open' to Christian Eriksen swap deal involving Paulo Dybala

Tottenham are reportedly keen on revisiting their interest in Paulo Dybala in January and are willing to offer Juventus Christian Eriksen in return.

Spurs were strongly linked with a move for the Juventus superstar in the summer but failed with a last-gasp deadline day swoop for the Argentine.

Despite agreeing a fee with Juve, Dybala’s wage and commission demands forced the deal to collapse and Tottenham ultimately failed to bolster their attacking ranks.

However Tuttosport have reported that Dybala is still on Spurs’ wishlist, and the north Londoners may well offer Eriksen in a potential swap deal when the transfer window reopens early next year.

Tottenham remain interested in Juventus star Paulo Dybala

Eriksen, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has made clear his desire to leave Spurs but, like Dybala, was unable to secure a summer switch.

It seems the Denmark’s future lies away from north London and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted on Thursday that he was unsure if Eriksen would remain with the club.

The Denmark international only has a year left on his contract, but didn’t move on before September 2 and will be with Tottenham until the winter window opens in January.

Despite this, Pochettino said of Eriksen: “He’s happy. He was always happy. He never said he wasn’t happy here.

“Everyone of course has aims, goals, challenges. I told you before the Arsenal game he was in his right mind and that’s why I played him.

“Always he was an important player for us. In our sixth season, we’ve always appreciated him a lot.

“His qualities are there and important for the team. He’s happy and if we believe he deserves to play then he’s going to play. It’s not because he has less than one year on his contract we’re going to take a different decision. All decisions are based on performance.”
