Arsenal hero Steve Morrow is in the frame to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new head of academy coaching and player development.
Spurs are on the lookout for a new academy chief after John McDermott left his role to join the FA as assistant technical director and Morrow has been placed on a shortlist to replace him.
Morrow, 49, famously scored the winning goal in the 1993 League Cup final, before being dropped awkwardly by Tony Adams in the post-match celebrations leaving him with a borken arm and out for the rest of the season.
He returned to the club after his playing days and developed a sterling reputation for bringing through young talent, playing a role in the growth of Alex Iwobi, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka – all of whom played in Arsenal’s first team.

The Northern Irishman was one of the contenders to land the FA role taken on by former Spurs academy chief McDermott but could now take his job instead.
He is viewed as one of the best readily available candidates for the job but his affinity with the Gunners could prove to be a stumbling block, according to the Daily Mail.
His departure from Arsenal was viewed as a big shock.
Arsenal’s shake up after head of recruitment Sven Mislintat’s exit saw technical director Edu put his own staff in place and the former midfielder was the highest profile casualty.
Stepping into McDermott’s shoes will be no easy task.
He oversaw an academy that has produced the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend.
