Tottenham Hotspur news: Harry Kane should quit Spurs and join Manchester City, says Glen Johnson

Glen Johnson has suggested that Harry Kane should leave Tottenham Hotspur and sign for Manchester City.

The former England right-back’s comments come as Spurs were plunged into further crisis by defeat to Brighton this weekend.

And Johnson has advised Kane to consider a move to Pep Guardiola’s side, suggesting he would stand a better chance of winning trophies at City.

“If I was in Harry’s shoes, I would think that I can play elsewhere and have a much better chance of playing with better players and adding trophies to my cabinet,” Johnson told BetDaq.

“In a couple of years his goals could dry up at Spurs and he’d be out the door.

“There’s no loyalties in football and he has to look after himself first and foremost.”

Kane attended the first NFL game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Rumours about the striker perhaps eyeing a move away from Spurs have intensified during the course of the club’s elongated rough patch.

Johnson thinks Kane would be better served joining Manchester City than either Barcelona or Real Madrid, but admits that may mean he has to wait until Sergio Aguero leaves City.

“I don’t think he’d be suited to the Spanish style of playing, so he might have to wait for Sergio Aguero to move on at City before going there,” said Johnson.

“But it’s not out of the question that could happen in my opinion.

“If I was Harry, I know what I’d do, I’d be moving on for the sake of my career to win as much as I could.”
