It saved the North Londoners’ blushes after they a blew a 2-0 lead in normal time.

But victory came at a cost as defender Juan Foyth was carried off on a stretcher after getting injured and now looks set to miss the big kick off.

Mauricio Pochettino was finally able to enjoy a trophy win coming in what he described as a “very important tournament”.

He added: “It’s always better to win then lose and that is why I am happy and there’s a lot of positive things we can take from these two games.”

And fans revelled in their curse finally being broken – and were mocked by rivals.

Spurs fans were “celebrating a pre-season friendly kickaround-up-the-park trophy”, according to one Arsenal fan.

Forgotten winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou was handed a surprise start and the Frenchman burst down the left and whipped in a low cross for Erik Lamela to slide Spurs in front in the 19th minute.

Sarpreet Singh almost levelled for Bayern on the stroke of half time with a low shot just wide of Hugo Lloris’ left post.

Spurs made NINE changes at half-time, with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen among those sent on.

Son was denied twice by Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer before Eriksen doubled Tottenham’s lead with a powerful shot into the bottom corner in the 59th minute.

But Bayern pulled one back a minute later when their new signing Jann-Fiete Arp slotted past Gazzaniga.

Kane had shot saved by Neuer before fellow half-time sub Foyth had to be carried off on a stretcher in the 77th minute after appearing to hurt his leg while kicking the ball clear.

Alphonso Davies then made things worse by making it 2-2 with a 25 yarder.

New record £65million signing Tanguy Ndombele was rested after a gruelling pre-season campaign but Spurs insisted the France midfielder is NOT injured.

Earlier, Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Fenerbahce 5-3 in the third-place play-off.

Spurs now play their final pre-season friendly at home to Inter Milan on Sunday before they kick off their Premier League campaign with the visit of Aston Villa next Saturday.
