Toronto Defiant plates up multi-year deal with SkipTheDishes


Overwatch League franchise Toronto Defiant has entered a multi-year deal with food delivery network SkipTheDishes.

OverActive Media has appointed SkipTheDishes as the official food delivery service of its franchise.

Tyler Keenan, Vice President of Global Partnerships at OverActive Media, commented on the deal in a release: “The food category is a competitive partnership category, and we are thrilled to be welcoming the leading brand in Canada into the OAM family. Our home games are going to be the highest expression of our Toronto Defiant brand this season and having a partner like SkipTheDishes alongside us, will make a substantial difference to the fan experience.”

Fans of Toronto Defiant have plenty to look forward to as a result of the deal. SkipTheDishes will be present at its homestand weekends on April 18-19th and August 8-9th at the Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, where it will deliver on live activations. Social media collaborations are also included in the partnership, with giveaways and contests featuring select players being named as SkipTheDishes brand ambassadors.

Robert Payne, Vice President of National Partnerships at SkipTheDishes, added: “We’re ecstatic to be partnering with the Toronto Defiant of the Overwatch League. We can’t wait to add to the live fan experience at upcoming home games by delivering a unique experience to both players and fans.”

As well as Toronto Defiant, OverActive Media also owns Call of Duty League franchise Toronto Ultra and Spanish-based organisation MAD Lions. SkipTheDishes is the latest in a line of big-name partnerships that the group has secured recently, having announced attention-grabbing deals with Universal Music CanadaCanon, and Bell over the past year.

Esports Insider says: OverActive Media continues to flex its muscles in the Western esports market by securing a headline-grabbing sponsor for Toronto Defiant. With Toronto Ultra soon to debut in the Call of Duty League, and the recent entry of MAD Lions into the LEC and FLASHPOINT, the group is set to make a splash in 2020.
