Tories left raging after Channel 4 announces left-wing Remainer panel for election night

The “alternative” broadcast will feature a variety of self-confessed left-wingers and Remainers which include Katherine Ryan, “Blairite” Matt Forde and former X-Factor contestant turned presenter Rylan Clark-Neal, who has previously described Brexit as a “s**t show”. A senior Conservative source said Channel 4 had rebranded itself a “campaigning organisation”.

They added: “It’s only fitting they would skew their election night coverage just as they have done for the election.”

Ms Ryan, who has previously described herself as a “left-leaning liberal” said she had just been booked to provide “insight and humour”.

She also described the election as a “harrowing vigil”.

Earlier this year, Mr Clark-Neal, who is also known for winning Celebrity Big Brother, said the “sad thing about Brexit” was that “all options will now lead to drama-rama”.

He added: “Hope Cameron is having a nice time wherever he is.”

The left-wing trio will be joined by one of Channel 4’s News presenters Krishnan Guru-Murthy, along with Clare Balding and Robert Rinder.

Channel 4 have said its main guests will be “joined by an eclectic mix of the country’s biggest political figures and sharpest comedic talent to tell the dramatic story as it unfolds, with top-class analysis and some much-needed laughs”.

Former Labour deputy leader Tom Watson and former Home Secretary Amber Rudd will be in the studio to offer their insights on the evening’s events.

Ofcom have since rejected the debate.

But now the Tories have suggested that they may review the channel’s public broadcaster status if they win a majority this week.

The Tories also clashed with Channel 4 earlier this year after the Prime Minister refused to give them an interview.

Mr Johnson did, however, sit down with every other major broadcaster.

Channel 4 are not the only broadcaster to come under fire over political bias.

The BBC has also left viewers raging after an election debate between Mr Johnson and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn saw more people allegedly cheer for the Labour leader more than the Prime Minister.

One viewer claimed they “switched off” after watching some of the debate.

The BBC sparked fury online as viewers angrily claimed the audience were biased against the Conservative Party leader during the election debate on last week.

Graham Bridge tweeted: “The BBC are in full audience bias mode. Corbyn speaks – applause. Boris speaks – just a few clapping.

“It really is embarrassing. If Boris gets in I hope he sorts the BBC out. I have now switched off.”
