Top Disney-inspired baby names, including Tiana, Ursula and Olaf

DISNEY obsessed parents are taking their fandom to new heights by naming their kids after characters – and, unsurprisingly, Elsa tops the list.

Just last month, a Bristolian couple were mercilessly mocked for naming their daughter Disney, but she’s far from the only one with an unusual cartoon-inspired moniker.

Toy Story’s Woody and Frozen’s Olaf also made the top 10, as did Ursula from The Little Mermaid, three spots above the film’s star Ariel who comes in at 13.

Some 17,000 British kids have been given Disney names since 1996 – and they’re on the rise, according to the research by Play Like Mum.

A huge 1,775 babies were given Disney monikers in 2017, compared to just 188 in 1996, which explains how Elsa has already flown to the top of the charts.

For the purpose of the stats, already popular names like Anna and Jasmine have been left out.

Bizarrely, the research shows that some parents have given unusual names like Snow (49 kids), Buzz (41 kids), Boo (27 kids), Dash (17 kids), Genie (16 kids), Simba (15 kids), Nemo (eight kids), Aladdin and Hercules (both three kids).

And baby Disney is not alone – with 18 other parents picking the name over the last two decades.

Girls are much more likely to be called after a Disney character, with eight of the top 10 being female names.

While just three of the top 35 were villain names – Ursula in 10th place, Lion King’s Jafar in 16th and Gaston from Beauty and the Beast in 26th spot.

If you’re naming your tot, these are the most searched monikers for boys and girls, including Jasper and Milo.
