Mentioned in this article

Despite lower viewership for top influencers on Twitch, Just Chatting continues its reign at the top of the chart for content.

Meanwhile, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek shows what having a prominent influencer can do for a game like Apex Legends

The following content is ranked according to the total number of hours watched on Twitch Database-Link-e1521645463907 from Monday to the following Sunday, with data compiled using TEO Access.

Striking at the Right Time

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Database-Link-e1521645463907 posted one of the most impressive weeks for viewership that you’ll see outside of  a Major this past week as ESL One Cologne dominated Twitch’s top channels list.

Early this summer, the ESL Pro League Database-Link-e1521645463907 finals for CS:GO helped the title produce one of its strongest weeks of the year outside of the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice Major (which was also hosted by ESL) in February and March. However, this past week’s 13.5M hours watched gave CS:GO its most since Feb. 18-24 during the middle phase of the IEM Katowice Major.

Still Fighting

Riot Games’ Database-Link-e1521645463907 new “auto-battler” game mode Teamfight Tactics has continued to see dominant viewership despite the game only being in its beta testing phase. Since its release in the middle of June,  the strategy game has racked up 44.8M hours watched on Twitch. Only Fortnite Database-Link-e1521645463907 and Just Chatting have more with 47.2M and 47M hours watched respectively.

The movement of viewership to Teamfight Tactics is still suppressing viewership for League of Legends. This week’s 12.2M hours watched total for League of Legends Database-Link-e1521645463907 marks the lowest full -week viewership for the title so far this year.

The decline comes following a notable first six months of the year for LoL marked by viewership growth of its top esports leagues that put the game on pace to break 1B hours watched for the year, something only Fortnite did in 2018.

Back to the Apex?

While viewership among top influencers has been in a bit of a slump lately, that hasn’t stopped Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek from making his presence felt

As the top influencer on Twitch this past week with 1.7M hours watched, Grzesiek single-handedly managed to put Apex Legends Database-Link-e1521645463907 back into the top 10 list for content.

After dominating Twitch in February and March, Apex Legends saw a steep decline in viewership as top influencers stopped playing the battle royale game, keeping it out of the top 10 for all of May and June.

Grzesiek was able to buck that trend though with 1.1M hours watched on 30 hours of broadcasting the game this past week. Last week Grzesiek was the top Apex Legends influencer will just 5.5 hours of airtime and 119K hours watched.
