Tommy Fury addressed reports of sex ban with Molly-Mae before boxing ‘disappointment’

Jake Paul confirms Tommy Fury has pulled out of December fight

The British boxer and reality TV star, 22, pulled out of his fight with American YouTuber Jake Paul on Monday, citing difficulties with his fitness. After making his professional boxing debut three years ago, Tommy ‒ nicknamed TNT ‒ stepped away from the ring for nine months to take part in ‘Love Island’. Tommy met his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, 22, during the fifth series of ITV’s hit matchmaking show.

After leaving the villa, the pair settled down into a luxury home in Manchester, before moving house this year after they were burgled.

Molly-Mae has had to get used to Tommy’s rigorous training schedule and has spoken about her attempts to whip up healthy meals for her boxer beau.

Tommy’s training was also reported to have affected the couple in the bedroom, according to an unearthed article by the Mirror from 2019.

The boxer was said to have had a sex ban imposed on him by his coach, Manchester-based pro, Ricky Hatton.

Tommy was asked by the paper if it was true Ricky had asked him to cut down on his activity between the sheets in order to conserve his fitness for the ring.

Tommy denied that Ricky had imposed such a ban or that he interfered in his private life at all.

He said: “No, Ricky trains me, he does everything perfect and at the end of the day my private life is my private life.”

Since leaving ‘Love Island’, fashion influencer Molly-Mae has carved out a career with PrettyLittleThing.

The star has been named the fast-fashion retailer’s creative director for the UK and the EU.

As well as her own work commitments, Molly-Mae has still found time to support Tommy in his career.

A chicken dinner she made for her boyfriend went viral in 2019 after he posted about it on social media, drawing widespread mockery.

Speaking about his meal, the boxer had said that after a “hard training session at the gym” he was able to come back to the “wifiest wife of them all”.

However, Tommy then defended his girlfriend after fans criticised the chicken dish, saying it looked unseasoned, dry and bland.

Speaking on Twitter later, he said: “Can I just say that the meal Molly-Mae made for me was a fighter’s meal clean cut food ‒ I don’t like seasoning or any of that by the way.

“It was the most caring thing anyone has ever done for me so thanks for the meal babe I love you, come on guys where’s the love.”

On Monday, Tommy updated fans on why he was pulling out from his clash with Jake Paul, which had been pencilled in for next week.

TNT said he had suffered a chest infection during training, which left him “unable to breathe” as he prepared for the fight.

Speaking in a video posted to his Instagram account, the athlete said he had also sustained a broken rib and “multiple fractures” during a sparring session.

Tommy, who is the brother of Tyson Fury, said his team and a doctor advised him not to fight, even though he previously thought he “would be fine” to step into the ring.

In a statement to the media, Tommy also said: “I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib.

“The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory on December 18.

“I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year.

“I want this fight to happen more than anything.”
