Tom Jones: The Voice UK judge breaks his silence after Jennifer Hudson quits ITV show

Jennifer Hudson announced she won’t be able to return to The Voice UK for the next season due to filming commitments and will be replaced by singer, Meghan Trainor.

The Spotlight singer’s co-star, Sir Tom Jones, 79, addressed her departure on his Instagram account and said it’s been a “pleasure” working alongside her.

He uploaded two pictures of them together, alongside the caption: “I will miss my singing partner!”

⁣“It’s been a pleasure getting to know and work alongside you over the last three years,” he said.

“Well done @iamjhud on all your upcoming projects! Keep on keeping on x #TeamVoice.”

Before his post, he revealed how excited he was to be returning to the BBC One show for another year.

Sharing his joy alongside a snap of him on set, he said: “YEAH, thrilled, to be returning to my big red chair for @thevoiceuk 2020! ⁣

⁣”I will be back with @iamwill & @ollymurs plus welcoming brand new coach @meghan_trainor to the voice family x ⁣#TheVoiceUK #TeamVoice.”

Last night, Jennifer confirmed she wouldn’t be taking to the famous red chair on The Voice next season.

The Oscar-winner announced on Twitter: “Hey y’all! I’m sad to share that I won’t be able to join my friends in the red chair for @thevoiceuk this season due to filming commitments here in the States.”

The American star said she won’t be away from the UK too long, as she added: “I sure will miss my UK family, but I’ll be back soon for ‘Cats’ and ‘Respect’! Throw some shoes for me in the mean time.”

Many of Jennifer’s four million followers commented on her post to say they were gutted she was leaving.

One person wrote: “We will miss you lady with soul.”

Another said: “Oh no. You’re amazing on the voice uk. The 4 of you work together in unison. You will be missed.”

A third added: “Noooo. You are my favourite!! Next to Sir Tom of course.”(sic)

Olly Murs and Will.i.am will be back on the ITV singing competition with Tom and newbie Meghan, with the latter revealing how excited she is to be joining them.

She said of her new appointment: “I am so excited and honoured to join Sir Tom, will.i.am and Olly Murs as the new Coach on The Voice UK!

“It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to sit in the chair with my own button and listen to some incredible new talent!”

Emma Willis, who is the current host of Channel 4 show The Circle, will also be back to present the programme.

The Voice UK will return to ITV in 2020.
