Tom Hanks has issued an update to fans after he and his wife Rita Wilson returned to the States after their recent battle with coronavirus.
The Forrest Gump actor and his wife of 31 years were hospitalised in Australia after contracting the virus.
However, the pair are now back at home in the US after recovering.
We’re glad to hear it!
Taking to Twitter, Tom said: ‘Hey, folks… We’re home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing.’
‘Many, many thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA.’
What a gentleman.
‘And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes,’ he went on. ‘Rita and I so appreciate it.’
Tom’s famous films include Philadelphia, The Green Mile and Sully. He and Rita tied the knot back in 1988.
The pair are among two of the highest-profile public figures to catch the virus so far, with the actor previously explaining: ‘We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went.
‘Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.’
Other stars to have tested positive include Idris Elba, who’s been self-isolating with his wife Sabrina, and Linda Lusardi, who’s currently recovering in hospital.
At the time of writing, there were 656,690 cases of coronavirus worldwide.
