Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson 'released from hospital' after coronavirus battle

Hollywood star Tom Hanks and his actress wife Rita Wilson have been released from hospital following treatment for coronavirus.

The 63-year-old couple had been receiving expert care in Australia following positive test results for COVID-19.

Tom had been filming for his role as Colonel Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley biopic when he and Rita began to experience symptoms.

Now, according to People, the couple have been released from a Queensland hospital and will stay quarantined and rest up in a rented home in the country.

Tom revealed on Wednesday last week: “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches.”

He continued: “Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too.

“To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

He then added: “Well now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed.

“We Hanks will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.”
