Cinemagoers are going to have to wait even longer to see Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 7 and Top Gun: Maverick.

After multiple delays, the blockbuster flicks have had their release date pushed back once again due to the delta variant surge amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the films will now premiere just months after each other.

Top Gun: Maverick will now open on May 27, 2022, and the latest Mission: Impossible will land in theaters on September 30, 2022.

Maverick was originally set for a June 24, 2020 opening but was shifted back to December 23, 2020, due to the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It later had release dates set for July 2, 2021, and November 19, 2021 before the latest delay.

The seventh Mission was first delayed from July 23, 2021, to November 19 before Maverick took over that spot and pushed it to May 27, 2022.

The news comes after movie fans were treated to a 13-minute preview of Maverick at CinemaCon last week.

Tom, 59, appeared on the big screen at Caesars’ Colosseum Theatre in Las Vegas to tease the upcoming November release of the film.

In the clip, Tom’s character Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell was informed the Top Gun program was coming to an end, prompting him to go against the orders of the Admiral (Ed Harris) and fly the Mach 10 jet out of the desert, according to Deadline.

Top Gun: Maverick is the long-awaited sequel set to be released by Paramount Pictures.

The movie is set to be full of gravity-defying stunts, with a bird’s eye view of one of Maverick’s flights airing during the Super Bowl last year.

In addition to Tom and Ed, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, Manny Jacinto and Glen Powell will all appear on screen.
