Tom Cruise is back doing what he does best as he was seen tearing up stunts for Mission: Impossible 7 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The film’s production was shifted from Italy, after the deadly outbreak saw filming postponed, with Tom now bringing back Ethan Hunt on the UK set.

Seen doing all kinds of wheelies on a fancy BMW bike, the 57-year-old action hero – who famously does pretty much all of his own stunts, no matter the danger – looked right at home on the Surrey track formerly home to Top Gear.

Despite his bike having rigging attached to the back, there was no denying Tom was pushing the vehicle to its limits as he was surrounded by a camera crew capturing his every thrilling moment.

Kitted out in thick protective layers and a helmet, Tom was clouded in smoke as other vehicles took to the track for what appears to be some sort of chase scene.

He does love a chase scene.

Tom wasn’t just, er, cruising on the motorcycle though, as he also jumped into the driver’s seat of a BMW with its doors punched out for another take down the track.

This time, wearing a hat to keep warm, he was joined by a passenger, with cameras rigged to the roof.

Last month it was confirmed following the outbreak of Covid-19 in Italy production on the film would grind to a halt.

A spokesperson for Paramount confirmed the news, saying: ‘Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7.

‘During this hiatus we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts.

‘We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves.’

Filming for the highly anticipated movie – which is also set to star Rebecca Ferguson, Nicholas Hoult, and Hayley Atwell – kicked off in Italy in February, before the true extent of the pandemic was realised.

However, the country has since been put on lockdown with strict emergency measures in place to prevent the deadly bug’s spread – with the country’s death toll surging past 2,500 – with a source telling Metro.co.uk that Tom ‘wasn’t in’ the city at the time of the halt.

It’s not yet known whether the change to filming will affect its current 23 July 2021 release date, as movies continue to face lengthy delays as cinemas remain on lockdown.
