Tina Turner will be saying a final ‘farewell’ to fans in her new documentary as she prepares to live the rest of her life out of the spotlight.
The What’s Love Got To Do With It? singer will tell her life story in the upcoming film, Tina, which is set for release on HBO and Sky TV later this month.
The 81-year-old singer has battled various health issues over the years, including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure which forced her to have a transplant in 2017.
According to Tina’s husband Erwin Bach, who appears in the film, Tina will use it as an opportunity to say goodbye to fans worldwide and bow out of the public eye.
In the documentary, Tina is seen visiting the Broadway premiere of her stage show The Tina Turner Story as Erwin says on-camera according to The Sun: ‘She said, “I’m going to America to say goodbye to my American fans and I’ll wrap it up”. And I think this documentary and the play, this is it — it’s a closure.’
Looking back on her various ordeals, Tina said: ‘It wasn’t a good life. The good did not balance the bad.
‘I had an abusive life, there’s no other way to tell the story. It’s a reality. It’s a truth. That’s what you’ve got, so you have to accept it.’
The Best singer opens up about her turbulent and abusive marriage to late husband Ike Turner.
Tina explained: ‘For a long time I did hate Ike, I have to say that. But then, after he died, I really realised that he was an ill person. He did get me started and he was good to me in the beginning. So I have some good thoughts. Maybe it was a good thing that I met him, that I don’t know.
‘It hurts to have to remember those times, but at a certain stage forgiveness takes over, forgiving means not having to hold on.
‘It was letting go, because it only hurts you. By not forgiving, you suffer, because you think about it over and over. And for what?’
After escaping Ike, Tina went on to marry Erwin in 2013 after a 27-year relationship when she was 46 and he aged 30.

Tina will premiere on Sky Documentaries, Now TV and via altitude.film on March 28.
