‘The Sero, which means vertical in Korean, was created to meet this need.’

The Sero will offer a 43-inch QLED screen that comes with a motorized stand that seamlessly rotates the screen as soon as any smartphone synchronized to the TV operating system switches from landscape to portrait view.

The Sero will work with Samsung’s Galaxy range of smartphones, and it will also support Apple AirPlay 2 so iPhone connectivity.

The screen is permanently fixed to the motorized stand so it won’t be possible to detach and mount on walls, according to a CNET report

On the up side, the extra space provided by the stand has allowed the company to include a 4.1 channel 60W speaker system that will deliver significantly higher audio quality than most other similar sized televisions.

The Sero TV will also offer an ambient mode that will display photos or looping background videos of a fireplace or a glittering disco ball rotating to set the mood for people who would prefer to just be alone with their phones.

There’ll also be an option that will have the TV mimic a phone lock screen, simply displaying the time and weather against a flat colored background.

The Sero TV is already on the market in Korea, where it retails for around $1,600 (or 1.9 million won), and Samsung says it’s planning to bring it to the US in the second half of 2020.
