Joe is currently serving 22 years in prison for trying to hire a hitman to kill his rival, Carole Baskin.

The docu-series has lead to a whole new level of fame and attention for all involved, and John has opened up about how he’s dealing with it.

Speaking to Variety, John explained why he agreed to take part in the show in the first place, saying: “It wasn’t about money or anything.

“It was a therapy thing for me because there was a lot of pent-up anger, rage, whatever you want to call it. I’m not one to go see a counsellor. I’m usually one to work things out myself.”

The experience has left him feeling like he got his emotions out and John added he feels “a whole lot better”.

However, John wishes there had been more clarity on some of the things featured in Tiger King, particularly his relationship with Joe.

He explained: “I’ve been six years clean since all that was aired. I was never married to Joe or to my baby’s mama — we’re engaged now.

“They never showed that because they knew I was engaged at the time.”

While John no longer speaks to Joe, he would be open to appearing in a follow-up to Tiger King.

He said: “It would be nice, but that’s totally up to Netflix. If it was shined in the right light and done the right way, possibly.

“If it’s a Season 2, no, I’m not going to do it.”

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is available to stream on Netflix now.
