Shane Rimmer was best known for voicing Scott Tracy in the original Thunderbirds series.
The voice actor’s wife, Sheila, announced the news on a website belonging to Gerry Anderson, the co-creator of Thunderbirds.
Rimmer reportedly died at his home on early Friday (29 March) morning at the age of 89.
The cause of death has not been revealed.
Rimmer was born in Ontario, Canada, however moved to the UK in his twenties,
He auditioned for the part of Scott Tracy, the pilot of Thunderbird 1, in 1964.
As well as voicing Scott in the original series, Rimmer brought the role in two feature films Thunderbirds Are GO and Thunderbird 6.
Alongside Thunderbirds, Rimmer appeared in a number of high-profile films.
These include James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Batman Begins (2005).
He also once appeared in Doctor Who (in the 1966 serial The Gunfighters), and twice in Coronation Street: as Joe Donnelli (from 1968 to 1970).
Tributes have been flooding in online for the star.
The official James Bond twitter account wrote: “We are very sad to hear that Shane Rimmer has passed away at the age of 89.”
As well as is acting career, Rimmer also performed as a cabaret singer.
