Thrifty mum swaps Heinz tomato ketchup for the Aldi version but her kids don’t realise, and she’s far from the only one


A MUM revealed she sneakily swaps Heinz ketchup for a cheaper version from Aldi – and her family are none the wiser.

The mum, from Scotland, revealed she was saving a bit of cash by secretly buying Aldi’s version, by Bramwells, which costs 45p for 560g.

Meanwhile Heinz’s branded version costs £2 for just 10g more.

In a bid to save some cash she filled an empty Heinz bottle with the cheaper sauce, and her family didn’t suspect a thing.

Sharing her tip on Facebook group Aldi shoppers UK, she said: “Tonight before dinner I filled an empty Heinz bottle with Aldi sauce.

“The husband and son BOTH used it and as they take on EVERYTHING near enough.

“Not 1 has mentioned it tasting different….and although I don’t take it unless on sausages… neither can I.

“Win win for me I think.”

Her sneaky tip has been liked more than 500 times – as fellow mums admitted they did the same thing.

Commenting on her post, one parent said: “Worked with my grandson.”

Another wrote: “I’ve done the same and my hubby never caught on.”

A third commented: “I did this for over a year with my daughter… and the mayo.”

While this mum confessed: “I do it with everything, cereals, sauces, shampoo, shower gels.

“I even used to keep a cleaners bag and put wash / pressed cloths in it.”

Although not every parent was so lucky, with one admitting: “Tried this with mine and they caught on straight away.”
