Families pay around £30 for “Jodie” — said to feature 100 unique sounds and movable ears.

The toy is advertised at 40 per cent off and paid for via PayPal.

Orders arrive from China with the inflatable and a cheap pump.

GLOBAL SCAM

Furious buyers contacting PayPal are told the fraudsters can only give a £1.50 refund.

Scores of readers contacted The Sun on Sunday after we initially told of the global scam last month.

Phil Wort, 64, from Isle of Wight, bought two for his grandkids and said: “There is a return address but it costs a fortune to post back.”

Alan Moss, 75, of Norfolk, added: “I feel a right mug.”

We tracked payments to cleanattire.com, dishsea.com and weekendlily.com.

Their phone numbers ring out.

All link to Hong Kong’s Order Plus International.

Action Fraud said victims had “no real prospect” of a refund. It urged them to use strong passwords.

Facebook is investigating.

It urged people to use its scam ads reporting tool, adding: “Fraudulent activity is not tolerated on our platform.”
