Very little is known about the attraction so far, but an advert on the park website said: “This unpredictable digitised dimension reveals an uneasy truth that manipulates and displaces your very existence, leaving you questioning how well you really know yourself.”

No additional ticket is needed to visit the attraction, it is included in the main park ticket price.

Two years ago, the park launched another attraction based on a hit television show – The Walking Dead.

The announcement of the new Black Mirror experience was greeted with mixed opinions on social media.

Die hard roller coaster fans were disappointed that there wasn’t another new ride in the making, but other theme park fans welcomed the new project.

One Twitter user said: “Not another IP maze. C’mon Merlin build a new ride or coaster.”

One Twitter user called Adam Oliver said: “Why is everyone saying Thorpe needs a new coaster. They have the best five in the UK, they don’t need to ever replace them”

Another called Zoeyy Green said: “Did anyone really expect a coaster with the lack of building work around the park this year? Expect one next year at the earliest but likely 2022.

“I didn’t expect anything but a maze inspired by one of my favourite TV shows will be fine. Better than nothing.”

There are plenty of new additions to British theme parks this year, read on to find out more:
