Thomas Tuchel remains coy over PSG futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe

Thomas Tuchel has admitted he cannot guarantee that Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will stay at Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The world-class duo, who joined the club for £198 million and £166 million respectively in 2017, have been linked with moves away from the Ligue 1 champions.

Mbappe recently revealed that he is considering his future at French giants, while Neymar continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid .

And Tuchel said he couldn’t promise that the players would still be at the Parc des Princes when the transfer window closes, but reiterated that he would like to see them stay.

When asked about the futures of the pair, Tuchel told Sky Sports F1 : “I am used to this. Now it is May, the stuff that I say now might not be true next month.

“Things are like they are, there is a lot of speculation which means we have a lot of quality and talent.

“My wish as a manager and as a coach is clear, I want all my players to stay at PSG and stay with our project. The work is not finished, it has just started.

“My wish is clear, but I can’t promise as that would be naïve and I don’t want to be naive in this business.”

Mbappe last week suggested he could leave the French giants after revealing that he is open to finding “a new project”.

“This is a very important moment for me,” he said during the Ligue 1 awards night.

“I am arriving at maybe the first or second turning point in my career.

“I have learned so much here, and I feel it’s maybe the time to have more responsibility.

“Maybe at PSG, that would give me great pleasure, or maybe elsewhere for a new project.”

Although the Ligue 1 club insisted that the 20-year-old would be staying in Paris, his comments only fuelled speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, while 27-year-old Neymar has been consistently linked to the Spanish giants since his world record transfer from Barcelona .

Meanwhile PSG announced on Saturday that Tuchel has signed a contract extension with the club until 2021.

“I am very happy and proud of my extension and my commitment to Paris Saint-Germain,” said the German, who replaced Unai Emery last summer.

“Thank you to the president and the whole club for the confidence they show me and my staff.

“This only reinforces my goal of bringing this team to the top of its ambitions thanks to everyone’s work.

I am also very touched by the support marks of the fans. I am convinced that the best is coming for our club.
