Thomas Partey 'makes decision on future' amid Arsenal and Man Utd interest

Arsenal and Manchester United could be about to receive a major blow in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

The midfielder is of interest to both Premier League clubs as they eye the Ghanian who has a £42m release clause.

But Atletico are confident of agreeing a new deal with Partey in the coming weeks which would see him pocket over £4m a year.

Crucially though it would see his release clause more than double to £92m according to Sport.

The 26-year-old has become a vital part of Diego Simeone’s side having played the bulk of their games this term.

His combative and energetic style meant he was integral to their recent Champions League win over Liverpool at Anfield.

It helped the Spaniards progress to the last eight, although there is doubt over the competitions future this season.

Arsenal are looking to improve in a host of areas as Mikel Arteta plans to mould his squad at the Emirates.

Midfield is one of those areas with the Gunners boss identifying several targets.

United were also reportedly interested in Partey as Solskjaer plans to dip into the transfer market once more.
