Thomas Meunier addresses Man Utd transfer speculation with impassioned plea

Manchester United target Thomas Meunier has opened up on the speculation linking him with a move to England.

The PSG full-back is rumoured to be on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar as a replacement for the outgoing Antonio Valencia.

Everton have also expressed an interest in the Belgian defender, who has found himself behind Dani Alves in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes.

However Meunier revealed that whilst is unsure where he will be playing next season, he does not want to leave the French champions.

Meunier told Canal+ : “As I have said, nothing is clear, with regards to me or the club.

Thomas Meunier has addressed the speculation surrounding his PSG future

“People are enquiring, left and right, but I still have another year on my contract.

“The club knows my position, I have always said that I want to stay.

“Aside from that, do I suit them or not, do they want to change the Paris cycle a bit? Nothing is clear for the moment and we are going to see a little what happens.

“I think that I will receive news during the holidays.”

The Belgian faced United earlier in the season

United are in the market for a right-back after choosing not to offer Valencia a new deal.

Solskjaer is placing an emphasis on signing youth this summer, but has identified 27-year-old Meunier as a good option.

Meunier did enough to impress the Norwegian in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in March, despite only playing a part from the bench.

Whilst Everton are also interested in his services, they are not thought to be serious contenders for his signature.

Toffees boss Marco Silva already has Seamus Coleman to fill that role, and whilst Meunier would be an upgrade, he would rather spend the funds elsewhere.

The same could yet be said of United, who have targeted a number of high profile players including Gareth Bale and Benfica’s Joao Felix.
