THIS is the £2million Spanish mansion where ex-Thomas Cook boss Manny Fontenla-Novoa relaxed this summer as the firm went to the dogs.
The dad-of-four, 65, faces calls to return pay and bonuses after pocketing £17million in four years there.
Property records show he has put the gated five-bed home in wife Lesley’s name. A neighbour in Javea, Costa Blanca, said: “They were here in July with family. They come about three times a year. Locals are aware Manny was a Thomas Cook boss but it’s not something we ask about.”
An expat who knows him added: “I suspect he’ll be keeping his head down next time he’s over.” Mr Fontenla-Novoa quit Thomas Cook in 2011 following profit warnings, plunging share prices and the carbon monoxide deaths of two British children.
He now sells hols to Brits as president of the Logitravel Group.
In 2017 he sold a Surrey mansion for £4million. He and his wife also have a £1million flat in London.
In August he told a specialist travel magazine he still owned shares in Thomas Cook, raising the question of whether he dumped them before the firm went bust.
The Sun revealed last week Thomas Cook chiefs tried to claw back cash including a £1.2million payoff. He was able to keep every penny due to a complex employment contract.
