This week in esports: BLAST, Engine Media, FACEIT, Popeyes

BLAST raises €12.5M in funding round

Danish tournament organiser BLAST completed a funding round, raising a total of €12.5 million (£11.1 million).

The round was led by Johan Gedda, CEO and Co-founder of Rocket Software, and Danish investment fund Vækstfonden. European venture capital firms Creandum, Heartcore, and Maki – existing investors in the company – rounded out the funding with further investment.

Torque Esports, Frankly and WinView merge to create Engine Media

Torque Esports Corp., Frankly Inc., and WinView Inc. announced the completion of a merger, six months after revealing that it was being pursued.

Engine Media is expected to assist in the launch of new esports and live gaming experiences through its established partnerships.

FACEIT to control Rainbow Six Siege esports in North America

FACEIT entered a multi-year deal with Ubisoft to design and control the North American esports ecosystem for Rainbow Six Siege.

The tournament organiser will work with the developer on every facet of the title in the region, from broadcasting and media rights, to event production and grassroots programs.

Chicago Huntsmen dines with Popeyes sponsorship

NRG Esports-owned Call of Duty League franchise Chicago Huntsmen partnered with American multinational chain Popeyes.

The deal includes a jersey sponsorship, with Popeyes having its brand located on the chest of Chicago Huntsmen’s jersey.
