For the first time, the 13th century building is open to the public for an overnight stay.

Airbnb are offering one lucky couple the chance to stay at the house on February 14.

The bedroom features “Juliet’s balcony”, which in Shakespeare’s romantic-tragedy play was where the heroine declared her love to Romeo.

You’ll get a private tour of the house as part of the stay.

And guests will be waited on by a personal butler before enjoying a romantic candlelit dinner for two prepared by Michelin-starred chef Giancarlo Perbellini.

To set the mood, the room is decorated with a crystal and flowers.

The medieval bedroom even features the Letto di Giulietta bed – which was used in the 1960 film Romeo and Juliet.

Guests will also get to read and reply to love letters sent to Juliet by fans – thousands of letters are sent to the house every year, with a group of volunteers called Juliet’s Club answering them.

While the house isn’t explicitly the inspiration for the play, many of the townhouse’s features were similar to the house in Romeo and Juliet.

The home was also connected to the Cappelletti and Montecchi families, which echo the Montagues and the Capulets.

To enter the competition, you must pen your own love story and explain why you and your partner are the perfect guests.

The competition ends on February 2 so you have to be quick.

If you’re not lucky enough to win, Airbnb are also offering four romantic experiences on the website for February which you can book instead.

You could become a Juliet Secretary for the day or have a romantic photoshoot with your partner.

The famous home and the story of Juliet’s secretaries was brought to screens in the 2010 film Letters to Juliet starring Amanda Seyfried.

The most iconic adaptation of Romeo and Juliet is Baz Lurhmann’s 1996 version, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

One of Shakespeare’s plays the 1623 First Folio is expected to sell for £4.5m at auction this year.
