This popular holiday spot is the CHEAPEST for a value five star beach break in summer 2019

Holidays to the beach are a hugely popular option for many British tourists heading abroad this summer. The best value five star locations have now been revealed by holiday price comparison site, TravelSupermarket. Their research revealed Turkey is the number one best destination in 2019 for a five star beach break. The best value five star holidays in Turkey are available in resorts along the Turquoise coast, found TravelSupermarket.

These destinations include Side, Alanya and near to Antalya and in or near to Bodrum. There are also some good deals to Marmaris.

Research showed that seven night five star packages to the Turquoise coast are 22 per cent less this May than they were for May 2018.

Holidaymakers in Turkey also get some of the best in-resort spending too.

Emma Coulthurst, travel expert from TravelSupermarket, said; “If you look across all summer package holidays from the UK for all board types and star types from two to five star, Turkey doesn’t even feature in the summer best value list and is trumped by most short-haul destinations including Sardinia, the Greek islands, the Algarve, the Balearic Islands and Mainland Spain, Sicily and Malta.

“But, when it comes to five star value, Turkey comes into its own. As well as holiday packages including great value hotels at the five star end, you get a lot of sterling for your lira, making eating out really cheap too”.

TravelSupermarket also proved that May is the cheapest month of the summer to take an overseas holiday, making it the best month to get five star for the least amount of money.

The second best destination for a value five star holiday was mainland Spain.

The best value places to go five star on the Spanish mainland are on the Costa del Sol and Costa Brava.

Resorts such as Nerja on the Costa del Sol and Pinede de Mar on the Costa Brava, for instance, are offering some great five star self-catering deals.

In third place is Halkidiki on mainland Greece follow by Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, Spain.

The median price of a five star seven night package holiday from the UK to Fuerteventura in May is -19 per cent cheaper than last May.

Fifth best value was the Algarve in Portugal where there are 13 per cent year on year drops on five star holidays from the UK.

The remaining top 10 locations were Balearic Islands, Spain; Corfu; Kefalonia; Crete; and Hurghada, Egypt.

Coulthurst said: “As a result of recent uncertainty, some holidaymakers have been avoiding booking a holiday to Europe.

“But, with the Brexit deadline having moved to 31 October and MPs having voted to keep no-deal off the table, British holidaymakers can book a summer holiday with greater certainty.

“Plus, with some holidaymakers having been reluctant to book, there are some really good prices.”

ABTA has pledged travellers should take “total confidence” in the light of the new Brexit date.

Mark Tanzer, Chief Executive of ABTA – The Travel Association said: “The Brexit extension provides certainty for people’s travel plans going into the summer, meaning they can continue to book and travel without the uncertainties that come with a no-deal Brexit.

“While many people have already made their holiday plans for this Summer, booking early to get the holiday of their choice, others have been waiting to see what happens with Brexit.  [The] announcement should give people total confidence to book their holidays and travel arrangements.”
