This Morning's Eamonn Holmes slammed for 'racist' joke to Asian chef

This Morning ‘s Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford presented the show today as they stepped in for Phil and Holly. The pair learned how to cook meatballs with chef Asma Khan, but it didn’t take long for him to start making cheeky jokes.

He insulted both Asma and Ruth as he told them both that they “had big hips”, stunning fans as Ruth simply ignored him.

Eamonn even tried pushing the pair out of the way as he rushed towards the food.

But things got even more awkward as Eamonn ended the segment, saying to Asma: “I love your sister Saira on Loose Women.”

As Asma looked very uncomfortable, viewers took to social media to tell Eamonn off for his rudeness.

One wrote: “Did Eamon really make that ‘joke… not funny, just plain rude and tasteless, you can tell she was awkward.”

Another added: “Oh my God Eamonn – did he just say ‘your sister Saira’ because they’re both Asian?”

Asma didn’t look very impressed with Eamonn’s comment as the segment drew to a close

A third chipped in: “How racist and ignorant is Eamonn! He just said your sister Saira is on our show?! Not all asians are related or look the same. Bloody hell! Sort that guy out!”

A fourth wrote: “What a weird thing to say Eamonn.”

Meanwhile, Eamonn couldn’t keep his opinion to himself as he and Ruth discussed the phone-in segment for A-Level stress, which had been lowered so students could discuss their feelings.

Eamonn put his foot in it as he ended the cooking segment with Asma

Viewers were furious at Eamonn’s ‘tasteless’ remark and rushed to social media to tell him off

Eamonn said: “But they’re not off to the big wide world, they’re going off for three years of dossing around!”

Ruth told viewers: “”We’ve lowered the limit just for today.”

He turned to his wife and joked: “How patronising! Just lowering the limit just for today.”

This Morning continues tomorrow at 10.30am on ITV.
