This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown is turning to online therapy sessions while forced to stay indoors during the coronavirus pandemic.

People all across the globe have been forced to self-isolate inside their homes and practice social distancing in a bid to stop coronavirus from spreading.

It’s seen a whole new wave of things happening online, including musicians, such as John Legend, Chris Martin and Niall Horan, hosting gigs via live stream, fitness influences streaming home workouts and a new found love for video calling, so everybody can stay in touch with their friends and family.

For Sterling, it’s seen his usual therapy sessions carried out online instead of in person and he’s now urging fans to stay in touch with their counsellors throughout the pandemic.

Speaking to Variety, Sterling explained that he and his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, who share two kids, Andrew, eight, and Amare, three, have kept up regular sessions with their therapist while staying at home, as they’re now accommodating virtual sessions.

He said: ‘If you have someone, don’t just stop seeing them because you can’t see them in person, find a way to connect with them whether it’s through FaceTime or any other means, things don’t have to stop.’

Sterling insisted that it is more important than ever to stay connected with others when in isolation because it can take its toll.

‘The feelings of isolation that you can have when you’re dealing with a mental illness in itself can be debilitating,’ he said. ‘Now in the presence of social distancing and actually keeping away from people, it can only be exacerbated.’

The show is currently in its fourth series and it was confirmed last year that This Is Us will end after its sixth season.

According to showrunner Isaac Aptaker, show creator Dan Fogelman had mapped out how the whole story would end right from the very beginning.

Speaking to Deadline about the series, which premiered in 2016, Aptaker revealed the team had only planned for up to six seasons.

‘From day one, Dan came in with his master plan for the big picture stuff of the show and said, “I think this is where we end up. I think this is what I know. Let’s figure out the rest together,”‘ he said.

‘So all of the writers and the actors really know everything. We’re all pretty good at keeping secrets by now, it’s been three years, but it’s a total open book for everyone who works on the show, so there are no secrets from each other.’
