This is (officially) the most-wanted coat on the high street right now, and we can totally see why

With January over and done with, we’re officially ready to lift the spending ban and treat ourselves to a few new year staple pieces. We’re not kidding ourselves. Winter isn’t over quite yet (in fact, the worst is probably yet to come – boo), so the search for a stylish new winter coat continues. But, yanno – one that we’ll actually wear year after year. Cos our new year resolution was to buy investment pieces and investment pieces only.

Just in time for our annual February splurge, Lyst has released a list of the ten most popular fashion pieces of the moment. They have been busy assessing the online shopping behaviour of more than nine million shoppers a month searching, browsing and buying pieces across 12,000 designers and stores online. That’s some hefty survey.

We’re not entirely sure how they do it (other than by accounting for global Lyst and Google search data, conversion rates and sales, brand and product social media mentions and engagement statistics worldwide over this three-month period – phew), but we’re taking the data as bible.

The results of their survey show the ten most popular pieces of the past quarter (that being from October 2019 until the end of December) – but most of them are designer. It’s almost always that way. That said, this time, one high street item has managed to creep in at number 10. FINALLY.

The item in question is a puffer coat from Arket, which we’d be lying if we said we hadn’t also been eying up for a hot minute. It’s nice to know everyone else approves.

Every influencer and their dog has been wearing it, including Hannah Crosskey, Alexis Foreman and Brittany Bathgate. It’s minimalist, super on-trend and very versatile. It’s also incredibly warm – the equivalent to wearing your duvet out in public while still looking put-together and fairly smart. What could possibly be better?

The coat is available in black and green and it costs £225. It’s filled with 100% recycled down and feathers and is made from matte stretch nylon. It has elastic cuffs, slits at the sides for easy movement and it falls at the knee.

It’s the sort of coat your mum would be proud of you for buying. Ready to make the purchase?
