Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

There’s mulled wine, fairy lights in abundance, bad music, family rows and gifts.

However, somewhere in between those highlights is gift wrapping – the most excruciating of festive activities.

Some are blessed with the wrapping gift but others are not.

For those who aren’t, anything that doesn’t come in a box or a cube shape is a reason to cower in fear behind your Christmas tree.

Awkward presents are a nuisance of the highest order but we think we have found the ultimate gift wrapping hack to solve the issue.

Australian influencer @mama_mila_au shared a nifty trick on her Instagram page that will solve the most complicated of gift issues.

Alongside the hack clip she wrote: ‘We have so many different shaped and sized toys to wrap under the tree and this method helps ensure they all look neat and is also a more cost-effective alternative to bags.

‘Let me know if you try this one or have any requests for items to wrap.’

Thankfully, the method is simple and all you need is traditional wrapping paper, scissors, a hole punch and some ribbon.

In the video, the savvy mum first measures the paper to fit around the gift. Next she folds the base upwards and moves to create a diamond shape. She then tapes this together.

Finally, she places the gift inside the makeshift bag and seals the top before punching holes and adding a ribbon through the spaces.

And there you have it, a simple, chic and stress-free wrapped gift in minutes.
