“Eyes” is a collection of multiple exposure photos by Leeds, UK-based photographer Ben Dauré. What’s impressive about the surreal photos of human eyes is that they were created entirely in-camera rather than with Photoshop.
After shooting a macro photo of a human eye as a base photo, Dauré stacked forest photos on top to achieve his results.
“To get the ghosting effect on the forest shots, I take a photo and spin the camera around a bit until I’ve gone all the way around, taking 9 exposures on top of the eye,” Dauré says. “I work from the outside in, so I don’t overexpose the original eye photo.”
The photographer uses the Canon 5D Mark III and its Multiple Exposure functionality, which can save multiple exposure shots as a single raw file. The base eyes photos are shot with a Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro lens with 3 extension tubes and two Godox AD200 flashes. The forest photos are shot using Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L and Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS lenses.
