These BIAS x Alighieri slip dresses are going to cure your January blues

Some fashion collaborations can feel awkward or contrived, cynical even.

Some however, such as the partnership between jewellery brand Alighieri and slip dress maestros BIAS, are pure magic.

Olivia Pope (ex-buyer at Alex Eagle) and Lucy Thomson (ex-head of Brand Experience at Charlotte Olympia) launched BIAS just before Christmas and the slip dress label has quickly established itself as a fashion girl favourite.

Debuting with the just one style, the brand’s original 100% silk slip dress (£195), which comes in nine delicious hues and ditsy prints, has been flooding the feeds of the most stylish. Not only are the fabrics luxurious and the cuts and colours beautiful, but each BIAS dress is produced as part of a small run, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Now the slip pros have partnered with Alighieri, a jewellery brand so well adored by the fashion set that they have a slot at London Fashion Week, to create a gorgeous three-piece capsule.

The Midnight Tempest, £350, BIAS x Alighieri

The collection consists of three classic BIAS silk slip dresses whose spaghetti straps have been replaced by necklace-like golden chain straps, hand-crafted in Alighieri’s Hatton Garden Studio.

Just as with Alighieri’s beautiful molten golden jewellery, each piece is produced in limited runs and has a design rooted in a story inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy.

Rosh Mahtani, Alighieri’s founder has been friends with the Bias founders for some time.

“I live in slip dresses with layers of gold jewellery, come winter with a polo-neck and black tights, or summer with white sneakers and an oversized blazer,” she says. “Olive and I dreamt about creating the ultimate Modern Heirloom: the slip with tough gold chain straps, dripping with molten stories. A dress you could wear to your best friend’s wedding with sling-back mules, or to the office over a white t-shirt. Alighieri has always been about timeless classics with a twist, and I’m so happy to finally have our own slip dress to live in, for seasons to come. Creating it with one of my best friends has been a magical journey.”

The three styles include the Ball and Chain (£275), the Midnight Tempest (£350) and the Tapestry at Dawn (£495), which has a detachable necklace to take it up or down a notch.

The Capsule will launch Friday January 31, and will be available to shop on Alighieri.co.uk and Biaseditions.com
