As satisfying as it is to stand out from the crowd, sometimes you just can’t beat safety in numbers. It’s all well and good being the first to discover a brand new beauty gamechanger, but get it wrong and you’ve wasted your money.
You may not be able to judge a product by its cover (or it’s swanky packaging – though we can’t deny that helps), but you can get a pretty good indicator from a product’s popularity with other beauty folk – namely from its reviews and its “best-selling” ranking (a function which many online beauty retailers offer on their site). If those that have gone before you have tried it, liked it and bought it again (and again and again), it speaks volumes for its performance – and it’s a fairly safe bet that it’s worth the investment.
