There’s still time to get your Develop:Star Awards nominations in – but hurry

There’s still time to get your nominations in for the Develop:Star Awards at Develop:Brighton.

The Develop:Star Awards will take place on July 10th, at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, Brighton, during Develop:Brighton 2019. The Awards “recognise the very best of the game development community” and celebrate the achievements of developers and success of their games across 15 categories. One ultimate Develop Star award will be given to an “extraordinary game developer” for outstanding achievement and contribution to the industry.

With a qualifying period from April 1st, 2018 – March 31st, 2019, only games released during this period are eligible for nominations and “any supporting evidence or testimony included in the nomination must fall within the same timeframe”.

The deadline for nominations has been extended until April 3rd, 2019 after which an “expert industry” panel will select shortlisted nominees to be announced in early May. The development community itself will vote for the winners “ensuring the winners are chosen by developers themselves”.

The fifteen categories are: Best Visual Art, Best Narrative, Best Game Design, Best Audio, Best Original IP, Best Innovation, Diversity Star, Best Supplier, Recruitment Star, Best Use of a Game Engine, Publishing Star, Best Mobile Game, Game of the Year, Best Micro Studio, and Best Studio.

“The Develop:Stars will bring together members of the game development community to celebrate incredible individuals, the teams they’re a part of and the very best of the stellar work produced over the past year,” said Andy Lane, managing director of Tandem Events. “It’s important to recognise the achievements of hard-working game devs and celebrate the successes of our vibrant and exciting industry. We’re going to make sure the night will be one to remember for all involved.”

The Awards aren’t the only things to close on April 3rd, though – super early bird savings end on the same date, too.
