There’s A New Documentary About The Tony Hawk Pro Skater Video Games Coming – Kerrang!

Twenty years ago today, the first Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game debuted and changed the world, selling 9 million copies and introducing the sport of skating and a host of alternative bands into countless unsuspecting homes around the globe.

Now there’s a documentary about it all, celebrating the incredible legacy of the games and examining how their influence helped bring the skateboarding scene into the mainstream, where it’s remained to this day. Pretending I’m A Superman (y’know, because of the Goldfinger song of the same name?) features exclusive new footage and interviews with Tony Hawk, Eric Koston, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen and many more.

You can get a taste of what to expect from the full trailer for the documentary below.

Pretending I’m a Superman – The Tony Hawk Video Game Story is an independently produced documentary in association with The Berrics. Former Neversoft producer Ralph D’Amato and award-winning Swedish director Ludvig Gür teamed up in 2016 to create a film about the game that defined a whole generation. They’re doing heroic work, as you can see.

And if all of that’s got you excited, then follow the team’s progress on the project and keep eyes peeled for news on its official release, expected later this year.
