There's a Dirty Dancing FESTIVAL at the lake where the movie was filmed

A few weeks ago, we made Dirty Dancing fans’ day when we reported the resort from the 1980s cult classic was in fact, real, and accepting guests.

Now, we’ve even more good news.

A Dirty Dancing FESTIVAL, is taking place this summer where they filmed many of the pivotal scenes from the movie.

The amazing celebration of the beloved film takes place in Lake Lure, North Carolina at the foothills of the the Blue Ridge mountains.

And yep, you’ve guessed it, that’s THE lake where Baby and Johnny practised the famous ‘lift’.

The festival takes place the weekend of September 13-14 and is packed full of activities and details for true fans to geek out over.

There’s watermelon carrying races, dancing lessons and a whole lot of 60s soul music classics that lit up the 1960s set film’s soundtrack

A special lake–side screening of the movie is even free and open to the public.

The event wraps up with an amazing ‘lake lift’ competition where daring couples take turns to try and recreate the iconic dance move in the water.

This year’s event is particularly jam–packed as the organisers are celebrating ten years of the fan festival.

Of course there’s plenty of stalls with food and booze.

Tickets are $25 (£19) for adults and just $10 (£7) for children.

Lake Lure, North Carolina’s nearest international airport is Charlotte Douglas airport and flights from London are usually between £400-700.

Totally worth it for the time of your life…
