The Witcher’s Yennefer actress Anya Chalotra is joining forces with Russell Tovey and an all-star cast for a gritty new drama based on real-life stories of those facing coronavirus.

The first look picture of the actress sees her with a face mask up on her head, looking exhausted as she wears full PPE gear.

She will play a junior doctor, who puts herself on the front line of dealing with the virus during the outbreak.

Meanwhile, Russell (Being Human/Years and Years) is seen as a policeman named Noel.

Joining them in the cast is Lorraine Ashbourne (The Crown), who will play a palliative care nurse named Linda, Eamonn Walker (Chicago Fire) will star as care worker Vincent, while Harlots’ Anna Calder-Marshall plays as elderly lady Annie.

While the five may seem like perfect strangers, they will all be tied together by their experiences with coronavirus, and is based on real-life testimonies from those who dealt with the crisis themselves.

Stratford East, who helped create the piece, placed a call-out to key workers on the frontline back in April, when the crisis was at its height.

The special will be called No Masks.

Nadia Fall, Artistic Director of Stratford East, said on the announcement: ‘While our physical doors are shut our creative mission is to give a voice to those on the frontline and to bring people together.

‘We are thrilled to be working with Sky Arts and Moonshine Features to showcase the brilliant stories of key workers from our community and be a part of Sky Arts as it becomes free for everyone to watch.

‘We hope this project will be both life-affirming and a moving reality check of what everyday people are living through at this extraordinary time.’

No Masks airs this September on Sky Arts.
