The Walking Dead’s Samantha Morton has told fans to expect a number of ‘incredible’ twists for her character Alpha in the next installment of season 10.

Earlier this month, the show went into its mid-season break, and we’re already starting to get withdrawal symptoms.

But the 42-year-old has kept us going and has teased what’s to come when chatting with Metro.co.uk at the Women In Film And Television Awards, in London.

Fresh from Atlanta, she said: ‘I’m thrilled to be part of that world and it’s not what you think there are always surprises. I can’t give too much away, really.’

Keeping her cards close to her chest, the mother-of-three went on: ‘I’m loving it really it’s a dream part, part of a lifetime, I love being part of the AMC world, I’m loving working with everybody.’

And while we thought the actress wouldn’t let anything slip, she smirked: ‘It’s really brutal.’

As if it could get any more brutal than the season nine beheadings?

The fan favourite continued: ‘I think the thing I would say to the readers, is there are more twists and more turns, and even I was reading the scripts like, “What? Oh my gosh, okay we’re doing that today,” but I was loving it.’

When we asked if Carol (Melissa McBride) would be the one to take on Alpha, Samantha paused for a moment to collect her thoughts.

It turns out she regrets not having scenes with Andrew Lincoln (Picture: AMC)

Not giving too much away, she said: ‘It’s complicated, isn’t it? With Carol’s history and Alpha doesn’t really have a history.

‘You get a bit in episode two where you have a flashback with Beta, but I think Angela Kang our showrunner has some incredible surprises in store, we will just have to see.’

The star came into the series at the end of season nine, shortly after Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) left the show.

This meant that the duo never actually had any screen time together, despite the pair playing major roles in the saga.

When we asked if she wished she’d been around in the Rick Grimes era, Samantha confessed: ‘I suppose I do, but we have gone far away from the comics in some ways, and I think that’s fine.

‘I have a great time working with who I’m working with now. I’m loving it.’

The Walking Dead season 10 will return to AMC and Fox UK after a short break, however, a date is yet to be released.
