The Walking Dead’s latest installment marked Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) exit after eight years of her being on the show.

And there’s no doubt that the showrunners have kept their doors wide open to welcome back the character later on in the franchise.

The end of the episode, titled What We Become, saw Michonne set off on a journey to find Rick Grimes after discovering his cowboy boots on an island not too far from Oceanside.

And it sounds as though Angela Kang is hoping the duo will finally meet once again – just not on the television series.

Chatting with Entertainment Weekly, she said: ‘I really hope those two reunite is what I could say. I mean, it’s sort of not my realm. But certainly, I think it’s like we’re promising some sort of new story ahead.

‘It won’t be on my show, unfortunately, but there is some sort of plan for a hand-off happening here.’

She then went onto explain the end of the show seeing Michonne walk towards a huge group of people who viewers thought could only be The Commonwealth or the CRM.

However, it turns out they’re a whole new community, with Angela adding: ‘I will say that as far as I know, this group is not part of that same group [that took Rick in the helicopter].

‘They kind of have a whole different way of dress. They’re dressed in animal skins.’

While we don’t know how the franchise will end up, Chandler Riggs who played Carl Grimes, shared his own theory on how the creators could bring the entire show to an end.

The actor believes that Rick could make a comeback through the CRM and go into a civil war with The Commonwealth.

‘My kind of theory is that the whole CRM thing they’re setting up, they’re setting it up to be the CRM versus the Commonwealth and there’s gonna be like a big battle at the end,’ he stated.

‘That’s kind of how they’re gonna close out the whole franchise. That’s my guess. I promise I know nothing, I’m not spoiling anything. This is purely my guess.’

Chandler added: ‘Disclaimer! … Rick will be at CRM or whatever and then Maggie will be at the Commonwealth, that’s kind of my guess.’

The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC in the US and Fox the following day in the UK.
