The Walking Dead fans were scarred for life after watching that horrific Alpha and Negan sex scene – where the Whisperer leader refused to take off her skin mask.

But while we were left squirming in our chairs, it turns out Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s wife was finding the whole thing ‘kinda hot’.

Taking to Instagram shortly after the episode Squeeze aired, Hilarie Burton shared her response – and it’s ‘kinda iconic’.

Underneath a picture of her hubby and Alpha star Samantha Morgan butt naked, she wrote: ‘Watched @thewalkingdead after the kids fell asleep last night. This scene!!!

‘Ol’ daddy has a way of looking at a gal, and it is CUTE! Only YOU could have made that situation kinda hot, @jeffreydeanmorgan ! Hahahaha.’

The mother-of-two then dropped in a little TMI, adding: ‘Prepping my own zombie flesh mask now. #neganswife.’

‘Bless your heart Mrs Morgan,’ her man commented underneath the snap, while his co-star Norman Reedus simply wrote: ‘Ha.’

And it seems her followers were in agreement, as one joked: ‘He does have a way of making all his scenes hot, doesn’t he,’ while another echoed: ‘That sly grin gets me every time.’

Others weren’t as convinced, adding: ‘Yes he’s hot, but I was NOT ok with that scene lol.’

While we didn’t actually see them get down and dirty in the woods – Alpha forced Negan to strip off at gunpoint while she got naked too.

Thinking he was going to be shot, the Saviour turned around to see Alpha completely undressed with only her skin mask on – and we can’t unsee the rest!

Talking about the bizarre twist of events, showrunner Angela Kang told Entertainment Weekly: ‘Alpha and Negan, obviously something has shifted in that relationship. So we’ll see in the season going forward where that takes us.’

On their decision to air the scene, Angela lays the blame squarely on the shoulders of writer David Johnson, who penned the creepy moment.

‘I was like, “This is so weird. I don’t know if I can air this. You know what? We kind of have to do this”,’ she explained.

And now we’re just waiting for an explaination as to why they chose to leave their socks on!

The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC in the US and Fox the following day in the UK.
