The new episodes of The Walking Dead are set to be the last for Michonne (Danai Gurira) – and a preview of scenes in the upcoming episodes show she could be murdered at the hands of Beta (Ryan Hurst).

The popular zombie series is about to kick off the second part of its tenth season and fans have continued to wonder how Michonne will bow out of the show – and it is possible that she might not get the happiest ending and make it out alive.

Some fans initially thought that she would be betrayed by newcomer Virgil, after he sailed off with Michonne while he traded safe passage for weapons, although the latest trailer could suggest otherwise.

The teaser trailer, which was shared on the official Walking Dead Twitter account, has teased a final showdown against the Whisperers and leader Alpha (Samantha Morton), as well as one particular moment which shows Beta wondering around a crumbling house as he holds up a machete.

Just after this clip, we then see a very worried and scared looking Michonne, who could just so happen to be in the very same house, which is situated on the outskirts of Alexandria.

These scenes leave us with a few questions, the most obvious being: are the two characters set to clash?

The trailer also makes clear to fans that a lot of espionage will be involved in the back-end of the series, as Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has infiltrated the antagonistic group of apocalypse survivors, who cover themselves in the skins of dead Walkers as a form of camouflage.

‘The spy you’re looking for,’ Negan says in the trailer, ‘is right here in the camp.’

The spy in question is the mysterious ally who set Negan free from jail, allowing him to infiltrate the Whisperers and gain Alpha’s trust – and we wouldn’t be surprised if these episodes see the two villains’ final confrontation.

Fans are also pretty concerned about Maggie Rhee’s (Lauren Cohan) return to the show, after Negan beat her partner Glenn (Steven Yeun) to death with a baseball bat.

As Maggie vowed to kill Negan in return, some fans think that she is now back to seek her revenge.

And if she was to intervene, she could risk handing victory to The Whisperers in the battle against Alpha.

Part two of The Walking Dead season 10 will be broadcast on Fox in the UK on 21 February.
