The Voice battles are back and viewers weren’t happy with some of the judge’s decisions on Saturday night.

During the first battle, coaches Will.i.am, Meghan Trainor, Sir Tom Jones, and Olly Murs had to give their teams a pep talk before pairing them up to sing against each other.

Over the coming weeks, in each battle, one act will win and progress through to the knockouts, although the loser can still stay in the competition if another judge chooses to steal them.

First up to perform were Alan Chan and Bleu Woodward for Team Olly where they sang If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher.

And their performance was well and truly stunning.

‘What a great way to open the show, you absolutely smashed that song and both of you sang your hearts out and you have made this hard for me,’ Olly exclaimed.

‘It’s always hard to come on first I think but you did it and you delivered it wonderfully well, the both of you,’ commented Tom.

Meghan continued: ‘I had the best time watching both you of you. Bleu, that is so hard to stay up there and you were always in tune you’re belting it was great and Alan your energy is amazing.’

Will added: ‘It was powerful, Alan you brought rock, power vibes, and Bleu, I want to match your outfit to that note you hit, that was a superstar moment.’

Olly then had to make the choice between the two singers, and it was clear to see that he struggled.

He said: ‘Oh no, I don’t know what to do?

‘I have to go with my heart and the person I am going to put through to the next round is, Alan.’

Viewers quickly took to social media after the sing-off and while many love both performances, some weren’t happy with The Troublemaker singer’s decision.

Blessing Chitapa and Beryl McCormack sang Flying Without Wings by Westlife.

For Team Will, Doug Sure and Zindzi Thomas sang One by U2 and Mary J Blige while Johannes Pietsch and Evergreen sang Songbird by Eva Cassidy.

For Team Tom Lara Anstead and Jonny Brooks sang Us by James Bay and Alicia Keys.

And for Team Meghan, Claudillea Holloway and Blaize China sang Greatest by Sia while Dean John-Wilson and Oli Ross sang Take Me To Church by Hozier.

The Voice airs on Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV.
