'The Voice': John Legend uses his only save after twinning moment on this Beatles classic

It’s the battle of the hats on “The Voice.”

Team John Legend’s Nelson Cade III and Darious Lyles went head-to-head during the second night of Battles on Monday, showcasing not only their similar sounds but also their matching style.

“I love the hat game,” Kelly Clarkson said, pointing to both singers’ fedoras.

Four-chair-turn Cade and Lyles closed out the show with a soulful take on The Beatles’ classic “Come Together,” earning the loudest applause of the night from the crowd.

“Hats off to the both of you, literally,” Nick Jonas said, prompting Clarkson to quip, “That was a dad joke and you’re not even a dad. That was awesome.”

Blake Shelton added: “This is a tough one for John, because I do feel like you two are similar in your sound, even the way you perform, your stage presence, your hats!”

Despite being “one of the most entertaining performances we’ll see in this round,” Legend had to let go of one of his singers. He selected Lyles as the winner.

But, at the drop of a hat, Legend used his only save to rescue Cade, entering him into a Four-Way Knockout with the other saved artists.

“We’re not letting you go that easy,” Legend said.

The Battles will continue next week despite the coronavirus pandemic, as “The Voice” has been pre-taped until the end of April, Legend told the Associated Press earlier March.

“There were only three weeks of live shows planned, and those were for May. So who knows what we’ll do? I don’t know if we’ll be able to do them without an audience. I haven’t spoken to the producers about what the plans are,” Legend said.
