The Voice: Blake Shelton uses last steal of Battles round to save singer at urging of Ariana Grande

Blake Shelton at the urging of Ariana Grande used the last steal of the Battles round to save Jonathan Mouton in the final moments of Tuesday’s episode of The Voice.

Ariana, 28, whispered to Blake, 45, that he needed to step in when Jonathan, 30, of Los Angeles, was seconds away from leaving the NBC singing competition show.

Jonathan had just lost his battle round duet to Paris Winningham, 32, from Jacksonville, Florida.

They sang the Luther Vandross song ‘Here And Now’ and all the judges had a hard time deciding which one was better. Ultimately, John Legend, 42, picked Paris to stay.

‘You’ve got to steal him,’ Ariana told Blake.’You have to.’

When Jonathan said his goodbyes, Blake pressed his steal button to save him.

‘He’s an incredible addition to Team Blake,’ the country star said later.

Blake later jokingly said that Ariana was bullying him to use his steal.

Ariana’s team was first to compete on the show. She brought her advisor Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth, 53, to meet her team members Ryleigh Plank, 20, and KCK3, a sister trio from Brandon, Mississippi. She assigned them to sing Christina Aguilera’s ‘Come On Over.’

Kristin advised them to think about the intentions behind the lyrics. Ariana coached them to give them their best performance by teaching them when to lead and when to step back.

‘I think you might be a genius,’ Kristin told her. ‘I just want to say to Blake Shelton, good luck.’

After their performance, John Legend told KCK3 it was great to see families singing together.

Kelly Clarkson, 39, congratulated them. She told KCK3 that their voices had so many textures and told Ryleigh that ‘literally you are light on that stage.’

Blake told Ryleigh that he thought that she attacked and owned the moment. Ariana ultimately declared that Ryleigh was the winner of the battle.

On Kelly’s team, Maria, 14, and Macy, 15, aka The Cunningham Sisters from Hamilton, Ohio, battled against Parker McKay, 29, of Nashville.

Kelly had them sing a Lesley Gore song ‘It’s My Party.’ Parker said in a confessional that she wanted to win the battle for her mother who died two months ago. She wore her mother’s engagement ring and bracelet for the battle. The Cunningham Sisters shared how they were more accustomed to singing in church rather than on The Voice stage. Jason Aldean helped out as Kelly’s battle advisor.

They all hugged when they finished singing and Kelly stood up and gave them a standing ovation. Blake said the choice would be difficult because how could you not instantly fall in love with The Cunningham Sisters. He told Parker ‘that you sounded incredible.’ Ariana also said what The Cunningham Sisters were doing was so beautiful and John agreed.

Kelly ultimately decided that The Cunningham Sisters were the winners of the battle.

‘You did awesome, Parker,’ Kelly told her as she left.
